His hair is dark and wavy, and his eyes are startlingly green, a part of his Zabini heritage. He is slim and graceful, and carries himself with an ostentatious amount of arrogant self-confidence, known to smile condescendingly whenever anyone he considers beneath him bothers him in the slightest.

HISTORY:
Blaise was born in the Palazzo de Zabini in Italy, as all Zabini children have been for centuries. He was not raised there, however, as his Mother was something of a black sheep in the family, and they relocated quickly back to Britain where Isabella had been living since her own childhood. He never knew his father, as Achmed Sawwan had tragically run astray of a blood magic cult shortly after Isabella learnt of her pregnancy. Though Isabella had married three more times since Blaise's birth, none of her husbands had ever been considered by either her or Blaise as a substitute father, and their subsequent deaths have had very little impact on him.

As a youngster, Blaise often accompanied his Mother on her trips around Europe, although their home was always in Somerset. It became obvious at a young age that he was something of a prodigy, and Isabella saw to it that he had the best of tutors wherever they went, often hiring people to travel with them so as to ensure that Blaise was kept up in his studies. Due to this he had learned many of the basic fundamentals of magic before being enrolled in Hogwarts upon turning 11. Due to the more relaxed laws regarding underage sorcery in some of the mainland nations, Blaise had been given a wand at a much earlier age than most of his peers back in England. One drawback, however, of his travels with Mother was that Blaise didn't have much experience with other children, just adults. As a result he found the attitudes of most children at Hogwarts to be baffling for quite awhile, and it took him some time to learn to fit in.

Quickly, though, he learned how to manipulate the other children as easily as the adults, and insinuated himself quite comfortably into the upper echelons of Slytherin society. Friends with almost everyone worth being friends with, he never gave allegiance to anyone but himself, and never counted himself as part of Draco Malfoy's "court." The only one in his year who ever managed to really intrigue him was Theo Nott, mostly because Theo was quiet and something of a mystery. He defied Blaise's expectations of a child their age and thus drove Blaise to get to know him better. He and Theo eventually became friends as a result.

Blaise continued to prove himself as a prodigy in school, surpassed in grades only by Hermione Granger, much to his continued ire. His teachers quickly realized that his particular skills lay in Arithmancy, a subject in which he was uncontested. The oft-intractable Professor Vector took him as a disciple and gave him extra lessons in new kinds of Arithmantical theory, sparking Blaise's continued love of mathematics and logic.

Eventually sex became another way to amuse himself and manipulate those around him, and Blaise quickly discovered that he was what could be considered attractive to pretty much everyone at Hogwarts, boy or girl. Sex was a way to get people to do what he wanted and also to have a good time, and he began to indulge himself often. Rarely did he keep any partners, though, in his continued attempts to avoid emotional attachments.

When Voldemort returned, Blaise continued to avoid the ardent Death Eater supporters at Hogwarts, and especially distanced himself from Draco Malfoy during their sixth year. He was also careful not to associate himself with Madam Umbridge in their fifth, as Mother considered her to be social-climbing trash that was best ignored and avoided. As a result, Blaise never gained the reputation of being a bully that many other Slytherins had.

Once Dumbledore died and the Death Eaters began their play for control of the Ministry, the Zabinis continued to sit on the fence and allow events to unfold as they would. Known for their beliefs in Pureblood supremacy, the Death Eater camp naturally assumed they had their support and never pressed the issue, and the Zabinis never spoke against their actions so as to do anything to change their thoughts. As the war raged on, they continued to remain aloof from the major political battles, and continued to allow everyone to assume what they wished about the Zabini family. When Voldemort was finally overthrown, Mother moved around the right amount of money and influence to remind the Wizarding World that the Zabinis had never supported the Dark Lord, and they had advanced their status as one of the only First Families to come out of the war without any stains on them and with their entire fortune intact. With the crumbling of ancient power houses like the Malfoys and the Blacks, the Zabinis were quick to grab the prestige as one of the last bastions of Pureblood power and wealth.

Also during their 7th year at Hogwarts, Blaise and Theo had a large falling-out over Theo’s political choices. As Theo embraced the Order of the Phoenix and pursued his relationship with Hermione Granger, Blaise found himself growing increasingly critical of his friend’s choices. Blaise urged him to remain aloof from the politics, as he himself was doing, and they quarrelled over it. They have not spoken much since.

Blaise graduated from Hogwarts, having taken NEWTS in Arithmancy, Transfiguration, Charms and Ancient Runes, and was immediately approached by Professor Vector about doing research for some of the new studies in Arithmantical theory. With the vast fortune of the Zabini family at his fingertips, Blaise has never needed to work, and so he splits his time between intense research and playing the part of the indolent Pureblood playboy. Working with his mentor Professor Vector he has published several unique theories and treatises, and also has won several awards.

When Isabella began to assemble the Force Majeure, Blaise was cautious but optimistic. Purebloods had lost the respect that he felt they were due. Had they not existed for centuries in unbroken lines, maintaining their magic and traditions so that the Wizarding World would survive hidden amongst the Muggle hoards? Hadn’t they been the ones to hold their society together? They deserved respect and power; they had worked for it. Voldemort had been the wrong champion for them, that had become clear. Not only was he a fanatic, he was also clearly unstable, and if rumours were to be believed he wasn’t even Pureblooded himself. He hadn’t been able to even defeat a child like Harry Potter, and in his madness he’d alienated most of the families he was purportedly championing. The time had come for a force that would take rational control, would return their world to the ideals held by their ancestors. Why not the Zabinis? So he assisted Mother in her plotting, helping her quietly seek out those who were similarly discontented by the new order of things, preparing for the day when they would begin to rebuild the world in its proper image.

The activities of the Force have shaken Blaise a little, however. The reality of knowing that he has helped murder the wife of his once close friend among others has seeded some doubt in his mind. He rationalizes that it is necessary to their greater cause, and that sacrifices must be made for the Greater Good. As a student of history, he is well aware of how this mantra failed Grindelwald, but it is his hope that his pragmatic and cautious attitude will serve to balance his mother’s ambition, and result in a successful campaign for all Purebloods in Britain.

DESCRIPTION:
Blaise Zabini is of the opinion that people, much like math, are very easy to figure out, and this belief has shaped most of his life. He is an exactingly logical person, and likes it when everything fits nicely into place. The key to making life work the way it should is to know all the variables and thus use the proper equations to ensure that everything produces the desired result. Luckily he has been gifted with the ability to read people fairly easily, and so manipulating everyone around him has been a hobby since childhood. This leaves him more than a little arrogant, as getting his way has been a way of life since he began to speak. The people who manage to resist his manipulations are always the ones who either intrigue or frustrate him the most. Still, being a natural manipulator has given him the edge over most people he's ever met, and lying with a straight face is one of the easiest things in the world for him.

His natural intelligence is both his greatest boon and biggest drawback, in many ways. While it allows him to keep careful control of situations around him fairly easily, it also leaves him vulnerable when things go wrong. His emotional intelligence has never been well-developed, and he is often stymied when thrown into a situation that requires him to think with his heart rather than his head. As a result he tends to avoid emotional attachments without having come to know a person intellectually for a long while. He does not have any truly close friendships, especially after his falling out with Theo Nott. His closest relationship remains with his Mother.

Blaise's relationship with his Mother is both complicated and incredibly simple. Despite Mother's many husbands, she and him have been the only real family for each other for as long as he can remember. They only stayed briefly at the Zabini lands in Italy after his birth, and since then they have been living together in Britain. Each subsequent husband has simply been an amusing distraction for them both until his inevitable mysterious death. They love each other fiercely, but Isabella also rules Blaise's life and thoughts with a dainty fist of iron. Her erratic mood swings and bizarre world-view baffle him sometimes, and he is always concerned that any action he takes might result in her displeasure, which he fears more than anything else.

With everyone else, Blaise holds himself far above their heads. While not a blood fanatic like the Death Eaters, Blaise does ascribe to classic Pureblood beliefs and holds blood purity in high regard, though he does not consider it to be as important as intelligence in the long run. As a result he always held a grudging respect for people like Hermione Granger, who displayed remarkable intelligence in school despite her appalling lineage. Mudbloods were never meant to be eradicated, but rather kept in their proper place. Blood purity, for Blaise, is about tradition and the protection of magic and family, not about some phobia of Muggles. In addition to blood purity and intelligence he remains adamant about proper manners while in public, and the antics of families like the Weasleys thrust them lower in his sight than their blood traitor tendencies do. Still, he is not so much of an oaf as to squabble with his lessers in public, and never participated in the Gryffindor-baiting that was the pastime of many a Slytherin while he was in school. He had better things to do. Thus, despite his aloof arrogance, Blaise knows how to be impeccably polite and charming when he wants to be; a result of proper breeding, more than anything else.

Inevitably, though, once Blaise's respect and allegiance is gained, he is an intensely loyal and dedicated friend. He is willing to do anything to help someone he cares about, and will undertake exacting missions of revenge against those who have wronged his loved ones. Once his barriers of sneering intellect are down, he finds he surprisingly has the capacity to care very deeply for someone or something, although the lack of control in that intense feeling always leaves him feeling nervous and defenceless. His numerous sexual exploits are a result of avoiding that emotional connection with most people, and he rarely ever sleeps with a person more than once. As a result, there are very few people in his life that he has learnt to love, and a part of him remains dark because of this.
